"The place where theatre takes place, be it the building specified for the presentation of theatrical performances, or the spacial complex one has decided on for reasons of narrative power and aura, corresponds to what Michel Foucault calls ‘heterotopia’ in his essay “Of Other Spaces”. Hereby he establishes a precarious counter-space located in public space itself – precarious, because heterotopic space bestows form upon an Utopian idea, that per definition has no location and must remain unrealised, and serves as its reverberation in reality. Thanks to ideological afflictions of the last century, Berlin accommodates an impressive amount of heterotopias, that lend themselves to re-reading. Together with the participants and on the basis of specified texts, we will look for spaces in the city that can enter into dialogue with the text in order to develop a possible theatrical structure."
